This position is considered a Full time, temporary position.

 

Summary:  JNCIS has an opening for a Electrical Engineer, at Kennedy Space Center, Florida to support the development of a new launch platform in support of NASA’s deep space program.  This position will provide support to the Mobile Launcher 2 (ML2) project located at Kennedy Space Center, FL.  NASA’s Space Launch System (SLS) is the next generation rockets that will be the largest ever built.  SLS will provide foundation for missions to the Moon, Mars, and beyond. 

 

The successful candidate must have strong organizational and teamwork skills, proven problem-solving abilities, can-do attitude, and the desire to innovate designs. The individual is expected to work collaboratively with mechanical engineers as well as representatives from NASA and KSC Launch Operations.

 

Role Overview:

  • Evaluates, selects, and applies standard engineering methods, techniques, procedures and criteria, using independent judgment with limited oversight.
  • Performs electrical engineering design, including the development of single line diagrams, panel schedules, schematics, connection diagrams, load lists, etc.
  • Leads multi-disciplinary design teams on projects of moderate complexity.
  • Develops material requisitions and specifications for non-standard equipment and bills of material for off-the-shelf equipment and components.
  • Properly interprets and applies codes & standards and customer design requirements, for the preparation of electrical design documents, specifications, material requisitions and system descriptions related to design tasks.
  • Conducts document and design checking as required.
  • Demonstrates leadership qualities with emphasis on continuous improvement and team building, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Provide guidance on engineering methods, techniques, procedures and criteria to expand the skillsets of peers
  • Participates in and fosters a work environment that is based upon openness, trust, communication, teamwork, empowerment, innovation, and satisfaction.

 

Basic Qualifications:

  • BS degree in Electrical engineering with six years of related experience.
  • US Citizenship.
  • Must be able to complete a pre-employment drug screen and background check which includes verification of employment and education.
  • Hands-on Microsoft office programs and other computer programs.
  • Extensive knowledge application of NEC code and ANSI/IEEE Standards.
  • Extensive knowledge of electrical systems, schematics and electrical equipment layouts.
  • Strong understanding of engineering discipline drawings and system calculations such as short circuit and load-flow.
  • Ability to size equipment and perform cable sizing calculations.
  • Minimum five years' experience with ETAP and other industry wide electrical system design tools, such as CAD 2D, cable designing and routing software.
  • Excellent oral & written communications skills.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MS degree in Electrical engineering.
  • EIT/FE Registration.
  • Experience in electrical design in industrial, nuclear, nuclear waste and/or defense facilities.
  • Previous Bechtel and/or DOD or DOE project experience.
